Cognitive Document Automation eliminates information flow bottlenecks

Cognitive Document Automation (CDA) eliminates information flow bottlenecks – how would you benefit from it?

There’s a huge amount of data available – but it is in different places

We are living in a time of digital revolution with not only unprecedented benefits but also a wide range of growth pains. One of the most concrete causes of pain is unstructured data accumulating in different places.

Unstructured data means information that is on paper, in emails, image files, PDFs, forms, databases, websites, Excel spreadsheets, and other unspecified formats. Processing unstructured data poses quite a challenge and a bottleneck for the data flows and thus for streamlining processes. In other words there is, in principle at least enough information, but it is difficult and laborious to use.

Automatic data identification (CDA) arranges data for utilization to different systems

In the past, this information has been interpreted and transferred from place to place by human hands. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is capable of handling migration work made in the past, and CDA responds to the need for interpretation.
The CDA is able to identify and classify miscellaneous data from all of the above sources, after which the software robot can transfer this data for utilization to different systems.

There are few limits to the possibilities of using CDA

Thus, when robotics is enhanced with the CDA tool, it is necessary to set a predefined format for the data sources, but the data source can be anything. The possibilities for use are therefore basically limitless, so it is easy to find examples that provide direct benefits:

  • CDA can be used to identify and forward service requests to e-mail without manual processing. The identification and classification of service requests will become more efficient, which in turn will provide new opportunities for customer service to create an even better service experience.
  • The digitization of contracts, invoices, and other paper documents is accelerated as CDA is able to reliably identify and classify data from a variety of sources.
  • Making inventories is a laborious part of inventory management. Image-based inventories speed up this process while increasing its reliability.

Get rid of the bottlenecks

Whatever the form and source of the data, CDA solutions can identify it and give it a systematic structure. In this way, bottlenecks in information flow and processes can be overcome even more effectively than by the introduction of software robotics alone. CDA is thus an important building block in the digitalization of a company’s business as part of a broader intelligent automation (IA) package.
